WARMI – CLOTHING WITH EXTRA SPIRIT WARMI

WARMI is a Franco Colombian brand created in 2008 by Sylvia Toth. Between accessories and garments, WARMI creates objects rather than clothes that complement the silhouette and provide the finishing touches to a piece of clothing and highlight a feature. Sylvia chose as brand name one of the last indigenous languages that still exist in the Andean region, not only as a tribute to women -an artisan, universal and creator being- but also to the tradition of a craft, an ancestral “savoir faire”, of a culture that is fading away.

WARMI aims to promote and develop handcrafting culture in Colombia. The collections are entirely had knitted by women weaver of the villages of Tausa and Sutatausa in Colombie. The material privileged by the brand –baby alpaca in winter, bio cotton or raw silk in summer, are certified (SKAL and FLO for cotton) or natural products (raw natural silk is dyed with vegetable ink): high quality materials that give the collection a refined elegance.

WARMI is at the core of today’s issues, The brand’s bet is to value clothes by giving them a Each piece –which is numbered and signed by the artisan that knits it, manifests a concern for a formal research of detail and a delicate and meticulous work, all of which gives it an extra charge of soul, the aura of a unique piece and the essence of a valuable object.

Sylvia Toth finds her style within the mixture between tradition and modern style, ancient and contemporary culture. Her double culture is not casual. If Sylvia lives and works in Paris, she constantly returns to Colombia where she sees a popular and blustering culture with many colors and folklore, costumes and myths, where you can walk alongside the unlikely, in order to create a clashing and warm setting, resourceful enough for the creator, who sees the inspiration for her creation in the miscegenation. She does not neglect the aesthetic codes and fashion currents as they are fixed in Paris. On the contrary, she leans on her skills acquired from Martine Leherpeur Conseil, a well known fashion office, where she was able to collaborate with prestigious brands such as Kenzo, Christian Lacroix, Dior Parfums or Nike, in order to build a very personal brand, like a passageway between her two cultures.

Her first collection won the Fresh contest. Benchmark boutiques in France and abroad sell WARMI. Among the most famous ones are Le Bon Marché in Paris.
